Included in this program is Advanced Pathophysiology, an extensive study of human pathological processes and their effects on homeostasis. Interrelationships among organ systems in deviations from homeostasis will be emphasized. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of pathophysiology. Course topics include the etiology, physical signs and symptoms, prognosis, and complications of commonly occurring diseases and their management.


Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Explain the physiological processes the body uses to maintain homeostasis.

2. Describe the pathophysiological responses to infection, necrosis, stress, and carcinogenesis.

3. Discuss the causes and effects of diseases on various organ systems.

4. identify the compensation mechanisms that take place in response to trauma and disease.


This course has been included to satisfy the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy educational requirements for Clinical Certification. A separate certificate will be issued. Credit Hours: 4.

How Long Does It Take To Become a Certified Clinical Aromatherapist?

Compared to a college or university 3-semester credit hour course with approximately 45-50 contact hours, this course is equivalent to 3 Semester Credit Hours with 3 hours spent studying online per week and 4 hours for study time (activities and case studies) per week for a 15-18 week semester. Upon completing this course, you will be qualified to join the National Holistic Association of Aromatherapy and present your certificate as a NAHA Certified Aromatherapist.
