Essential Oils for Focus and Concentration

Essential Oils for Focus and Concentration

Have you ever asked yourself or wondered, have we’ve all gone mad with our brains jumping from thing to thing?

Essential oils for focus and concentration can help when you are not able to focus or concentrate – which can be detrimental to daily life. Fortunately, certain essential oils are capable of taming the monkey mind and can bring it under control from the constant chattering of distracting and unwarranted thoughts.

Essential oils for focus and concentration can help get your mind back in the game and help you focus on more important things for a length of time. In this article, you will discover which essential oils can help you improve your concentration.

Allow The Monkey in You To Focus

Concentration is the action or power to direct your attention or mental force into something. Concentrating on something is what allows us to learn or to understand what is being spoken, taught, or what is in front of us at the time. Without concentration, our brain simply would not collect any information about what we saw or learned.

Focus is what directs the brain to be aware of something important. For some, focusing and concentrating on things might be hard as it is easy for the mind to wander as the things around them are not interesting.

Constant distractions are making it even harder for people to concentrate nowadays, as mobile phones make it easy to be distracted with regular notifications for various apps, texts, and alerts.

When one thinks of the monkey mind, one can’t help but remember a Super Bowl Commercial several years ago.

Monkey on the Brains: The Mountain Dew Super Bowl 50 Ad was called, “Puppy Monkey Baby.” Truly, the marketing agency that created this advertisement was suffering from Monkey Mind. Please watch and then we’ll use our essential oils later to try to bleach this image from our memories. That is if this ridiculous image hasn’t already been etched into your mind.

Puppy Monkey Baby

If you saw this ad several years ago for the first time, you probably were scratching your head, wondering, what was the product they were advertising? Were these advertisers on drugs when they came up with this idea and fall down into some Alice and Wonderland rabbit hole?

For those who saw it for the first time today, then it may make more sense to you knowing that the puppy-monkey-baby is what is going on in our scrambled up minds when the Monkey Mind takes over (possibly from drinking Mountain Dew Kickstart). The ad's combination of three different body parts of different animals and a baby was borderline nightmarish and that alone should convince you the Monkey Mind is nothing to mess around with.

What Causes the Loss of Concentration and Focus (Monkey Mind)?

Since 2000, the average attention span has dramatically shortened due to the mobile phone age. A study conducted by Microsoft Corp revealed that people generally lose concentration and focus after about eight seconds, bringing an all-time low from the previous twelve seconds in previous studies.

The study showed that the average human being has less concentration than that of a goldfish! The goldfish can hold his attention one second longer than us. We are in BIG TROUBLE.

With each younger generation getting worse as time goes on, the survey revealed that 77% of people aged 18-24 would say "yes" when asked, "when nothing has my attention, the first thing I do is reach for my phone," and when those asked over the age of 65 only 10% said yes.
