Treating Constipation with Essential Oils

Treating Constipation With Essential Oils

I recently had someone contact me from Australia who suffers from chronic constipation. Needless to say, he had tried everything to relieve himself from this condition. I searched all my references and came up with specially-formulated blend of essential oils for treating constipation with essential oils. I made it in a 4-ounce plastic bottle ready to use as a massage oil over the intestines and stomach.

This blend of essential oils includes:

SWEET BASIL ( Ocimum basilicum, ct linalool ) Its stimulating properties help ease sinus congestion and help restore bowel action. A natural diuretic Sweet Basil helps relieve poor circulation especially associated with constipation, liver and gall bladder stagnation.

Sweet Basil’s antispasmodic action may be used in a hot towel compress to help relieve chronic constipation, menstrual cramps, gas and bloating, chronic constipation, as well as relieve muscular aches and pains. Basil has a stabilizing and fortifying effect on the nervous system.

CYPRESS ( Cupressus sempervirens ) The most powerful astringent action in aromatherapy Cypress oil stimulates and strengthens the circulatory system, and has been used for ritual cleansing and to promote health since ancient times. It was considered a symbol for life after death and in the ancient temples of Egypt was burnt along with Juniper to cleanse the atmosphere.

SWEET MARJORAM ( Origanum marjorana ) Like the fresh herb Sweet Marjoram has a spicy, warm and soothing aroma that is relaxing, comforting and calming to your nervous system. Marjoram is a stimulating oil and an antispasmodic making it a nice addition to the Constipation essential oil synergy blend.

Marjoram’s powerful restorative properties make it an effective treatment for those who suffer from chronic constipation. Sweet Marjoram also has a comforting and soothing effect on the body, mind and emotions and promotes deep relaxation and release of long held patterns of tension and stress!

SWEET ORANGE ( Citrus sinensis ) A rejuvenating and uplifting tonic Sweet Orange oil has a very sweet and fresh orange aroma that’s warm and inviting. As a nerve tonic Sweet Orange eases physical and emotional tension. As with other members of the citrus family Sweet Orange oil’s natural astringency makes it an effective tonic for the circulatory and lymphatic systems. Use Sweet Orange oil for relieving constipation and to stimulate the release of toxins.

BITTER FENNEL ( Foeniculum vulgare ) A natural diuretic Fennel relieves the discomfort associated with fluid retention, muscular tension and bloating. Due to its powerful cleansing and tonic action Bitter Fennel is often recommended as a hot compress for treating digestive system complaints such as weak or sluggish digestion, flatulence, or constipation. Makes a wonderful detoxifying bath alone or in a blend!

BLACK PEPPER ( Piper nigrum ) Warm, mildly stimulating oil with a soft spicy aroma that’s slightly woody Black Pepper is especially good for strength and stamina to the body, mind and emotions and is excellent in any blend for warming and loosening the muscles.

Use it for soothing nervous complaints or symptoms associated with constipation as it stimulates bowel movement.

I used Coconut Fractionated as the Carrier oil due to its healing properties, however any other carrier oil can be used.  Take a teaspoon or so into the palm of your right hand and massage into skin over stomach and intestinal area.  It will do wonders and makes treating constipation with essential oils super easy and ready to use when needed.
